The
American Rose Society (ARS) is the largest single-plant
society in the United States. Founded in 1892, it is a
non-profit educational organization which promotes the
growth and appreciation of the national flower of the
United States — the Rose.
The
ARS provides rose assistance for home gardeners, sponsors
local rose societies throughout the U.S., and serves
as the international register for roses throughout the
world. ARS headquarters is located in Shreveport, Louisiana,
at the Gardens of the American Rose Center, the Society’s
118-acre park — the nation’s largest private gardens
dedicated to roses.
Vital Earth and Carl Pool began its association with
the American Rose Society in 1992 after receiving the
national endorsement of the Society for Carl Pool Instant
Rose Food. Major expansion and improvements
at the gardens in Shreveport led to the exclusive use
of Vital Earth soils. All of the new beds were built
with Vital Earth Bedding Soil, and Vital Earth Compost
was used liberally. In addition, Carl Pool began blending
a custom granular fertilizer with micronutrients for
use in the gardens. The results were spectacular! The
management and staff in Shreveport have done a tremendous
job of improving the ARS gardens. These gardens represent
a SHOWPLACE for all rose lovers around the world to
enjoy.
We
treasure our association with the American Rose Society
and the Gardens of the American Rose Center, and urge
everyone to visit these extraordinary gardens.
